making :: folded trees {ornaments}
When Julie (of The Intrepid Thread) offered up this fabric challenge I jumped at the opportunity to participate. What a perfect pairing of fabrics she was challenging people to sew with. Even before the fabrics arrived...
at my door I was scheming about what to do with them. It had to be something unique!

Then I came across a tutorial for folding circles of paper into trees and I knew just what I wanted to do. The colors of the challenge fabrics had a definite vintage-modern flair to them and I thought they could be a take on the classic Christmas colors.
To make these I pieced a swatch from the mini charms in the Modern Background pack big enough to cover a circle and cut a piece of the hot pink to match. Each fabric circle was then composed of 1/2 pink and 1/2 pieced whites. And even though I am certain I did everything the same for each one, they came out at slightly different sizes.
I had these made by Thanksgiving and gifted them to my aunt-in-law, who we spent the holiday with. Add two or so months and I'm finally sharing them on the blog - just in time to link up with the other challenge participants!
Thanks to Julie for the fabric and the challenge.
