making :: Magic Crib Sheet {blog tour}
I used the short tutorial from Dana at Made Everyday. With two yards of fabric and a few minutes of sewing (stretched out over a couple days when I found time during naps) this little crib sheet was sewn. Since the fabric was a bit shorter in width than the fabric Dana used in her tutorial (42" instead of 45") I cut my corner squares out at 7 inches. While I cut the length down to Dana's recommended 67 inches since the width was only 42 inches total, I left it as-is keeping the salvages on. They would be hidden on the underside of the mattress and this gave me the most fabric to work with. Then it was just a matter of a bit of pressing, a lot of straight stitching (using an overlock stitch on my machine), and threading the elastic. The perfect speedy project for a new mom.
Ediza was sleeping in her crib when I finished the sheet and I needed to get pictures for this post so... I moved her to the big bed and got the sheet on the mattress. And then I moved her back to her crib. In-between she stirred a bit and did a little stretching but somehow she stayed asleep. Thank you little girl! What better way to show of this cute fabric than to have a sweet sleeping babe on top and the soft morning light falling gently across the bed.
